Water is an essential commodity for human beings and industries hence its should be available in a suitable form. Water conditioning and waste water treatment are essential functions of the municipalities and industries. However the importance of suitably preparing water for the chemical industry is now fully recognized. Industrial waste waters are a complex and challenging problem to an environmental engineer. Besides moral and community considerations, law prohibiting and limiting the pollution of streams and air, requires these problems to be considered a necessary operating expense. Although the solution is specific with each industry (indeed, almost with each plant or factory) a few general principles may be observed. i.e increasing of waste water, control of pollution and if possible feasible recovery of by product at their sources to lessen the expense of treatment.
Although 70% of water on the earth surface is recycled to the atmosphere by evaporation or transpiration of plants, the increasing growth of population and industry makes for locals shortages. The problem of quantity, quality, reuse and pollution are complex and usually require expert study to decide between alternative sources of water and optimum treatment to minimize total cost of use.
